BIOSORPTION OF Cr(VI) ON ACTIVATED CARBON FROM ALMOND SHELL
Keywords:
Activated carbon, Biosorption, Isotherms, Kinetic ModelsAbstract
Removal of Cr(VI) using Almond shell’s activated carbon emerged as a viable cleansing method. Kinetic, equilibrium and dosage studies were performed on synthetic solutions Cr(VI) to evaluate the biosorbent potential to treat industrial wastewater for Cr(VI) removal. Kinetic studies were comprised of three typical kinetic models namely elovich, pseudo first order and pseudo second order models. Pseudo second order kinetics gave the best description of biosorption of Cr(VI) upon Almond shell’s activated carbon. Langmuir, Freundlich, Flory Huggins, and Redlich-Peterson Adsorption isotherm models were studied to characterize various aspects of equilibrium isotherm studies. Langmuir model gave the best description of the biosorption process which was supported by the value of exponent of Redlich-Peterson’s model.
