INVESTIGATION OF UREA-FORMALDEHYDE RESIN SYNTHESIS USING DESIGN OF EXPERIMENTS
Abstract
The focus of this study is to investigate the factors that are significant in determining the quality of urea-formaldehyde glue, viscosity being considered in this paper, in order to select suitable process conditions (temperature, reaction time, pressure and reactant feed ratios). 2k factorial design of experiments was employed to investigate the effect of process parameters on the viscosity of resin. Theoretical and experimental results reveal that temperature and molar feed ratio of formaldehyde to urea are significant factors influencing the product viscosity.
