Therefore, shale gas absolutely offers a chance that can help to revolutionize the energy blend </em>existing<em> within country. In this study, the wire line log elucidation founded on combination with the trial records from core. A vigorous classification of a gas shale basin fundamentally initiates from core investigation (geochemical, petro graphical, mineralogical and petro physical) that are in use for gradation and joined in the wire line log explanation. The shale gas panorama of Datta formation in Kohat-Potwar Basin based on geochemical studies and wire line logs. The study includes Organic Carbon content (TOC), generation potential, maturity, subsurface depth, thickness. Gross thickness of Datta formation ranges </em>from<em> 40-300 meters in Potwar-Kohatbasin and 80 meters thick in study area and average subsurface depth in study area is 4.5 km. Geochemical Analysis indicates that TOC of formation ranges 0.3-2 wt. % with 58-158 mg HC/g rock Hydrogen Index (Kerogen type III). T <sub>max </sub></em>(<em>436 <sup>o</sup>C) &amp; R<sub>o</sub> (0.5-1.4%) shows that kerogen in Datta formation is well mature. </em><em>The Datta Formation may have good shale gas prospect as depicted in our results. These consequences can aid in evaluating the said formation geomechanically.</em><em></em></p> ER -
